Braveheart's Garrett Chandler wins Silver and Bronze at the IPF Sub-Junior World Powerlifting Championships
Garrett Chandler and John Tabarlet traveled to Poland on August 25, 2012 for the IPF World Powerlifting Championships. Garrett lifted in the 120 kg weight class and finished with a Silver Medal in the bench press and a Bronze Medal for total. He squatted 655, benched 402 and deadlifted 551. Both the squat and the bench were prs for Garrett and a back injury during training prevented him from pulling the 617 deadlift he did at Nationals. That deadlift would have easily won him the Gold Medal in total. He lifted like a champion and represented his gym, his coach, his family and his country with dignity, class and honor. Even qualifying for an IPF world team is a signal achievement and everyone at Braveheart could not be prouder of Garrett and his accomplishments.
Also, Braveheart would like to thank Joe Lewis, head Sub Junior Coach, and Jon Magendie, assistant Sub Junior coach, for all their help and expertise in Poland. These men are truly two of the best in the powerlifting coaching business!
2012 NASA High School National Powerlifting Championships
Braveheart Powerlifting-Ultimate Team National Champions
Braveheart Powerlifting-Equipped PL Team National Champions
On March 31-April 1, the Braveheart powerlifters traveled to Oklahoma City, OK for the NASA High School Nationals. We drove up with nothing but our lifting gear and a change of clothes. We drove home with a 6 foot trophy so big we couldn't get it inside the truck. We won the first ever Ultimate Team award given at the High School Nationals which rewards the best team across all four NASA categories of Equipped Pl, Unequipped PL, Power Sports and Power Press. With only 7 lifters, we defeated teams twice our size by switching in and out of suits and shirts in between attempts and by posting a total in unequipped PL using only our squat openers. Needless to say, Braveheart lifters are warriors and they proved it in OKC. Garrett Chandler left with two American Records and the biggest squat and the biggest DL in the meet. Brown Thompson had a 479 DL and Guice Thompson pulled 292 at 121bwt. Did I mention Guice is in the 7th grade? Colin McRae hit an easy 457 squat and Nick Ogletree pulled 402. The Prevot brothers were on fire with Zachary pulling 319 at 148 and Wesley pulling 540 at 170bwt. Did I mention Wesley Prevot's deadlift is one of the most awesome things on planet earth? And Andrew Ameen did the best job of wrapping and coaching ever done in recent powerlifting history. I could not be prouder of this team. At this meet, they became what I have wanted them to become since the beginning of all this, CHAMPIONS!

BRAVEHEART POWERLIFTERS GO TO THE BEACH TO USAPL TEENAGE NATIONALS
Garrett Chandler pulls 567 easy at the beach.
June 2011 found the Braveheart powerlifters in Bay St. Louis MS for the USAPL Teenage, Junior and Men's Nationals. Tatum Peters finished first in the 181 T1 division, Colin McRae finished fourth in the 165 T2 division, Wesley Prevot finished third in the 165 T2 division, and Garrett Chandler finished third in the 242 T2 division. These finishes enabled us to finish in third place in the teenage competition. This was a great learning experience as we got to lift on the same platform as some 900 plus pound squats and some 600 plus pound benches.
2011 Highlander hosts 52 athletes and incredible throwing and lifting performances. The Louisiana Highlander grew from 18 athletes in 2010 to over 50 in 2011. The competition was awesome and next year will be bigger and better. We are looking at the last weekend in July or the first weekend in August for the 2012 Louisiana Highlander. Please watch the professional video story done at the 2011 games by Rick Rowe of KTBS 3 news. If this video doesn't make you want to compete in 2012 then you are NOT a Highlander!

We HAVE a training environment that teaches good form, safety and strength gains based on scientific principles of periodization
We DON'T HAVE a "one workout fits all" system that slacks on teaching form and drives the client to exhaustion at the expense of real strength gains.
We HAVE a huge variety of traditional and non-traditional strength equipment.
We DON'T HAVE a generic gym of machines that delivers only a bland workout with no noticeable gains in strength or fitness.
We HAVE a multi-degreed, multi-certified, international level strength coach who has 30 years experience in strength and conditioning.
We DON'T HAVE trainers who are still working on degrees and certifications or are only certified by the gym or the gym chain itself.
We HAVE low month to month rates which feature up to a 60% discount for friends who train together.
We DON'T HAVE year long financial committments or bank account drafts that can keep you paying even if you are not training. We also DON'T HAVE enrollment or sign up fees. (In fact, I'm not even sure what those are!)
We HAVE satisfied clients who stay with us and recommend us to others because they got stronger and more fit, did not ever get hurt, learned strength training as a lifelong activity and liked the personal attention and client specific workouts.
We DON'T HAVE disenchanted former clients who lost motivation to train because of injuries, lack of personal attention from the trainers, intimidation at having to do too much too soon or the feeling of being lost in a big gym where they felt like a bar code on a key fob.
